Our collaboration with the RNLI is now live exclusively on the RNLI website and we were bursting with pride to see that our RNLI 200 Cushion had an important role to play in the ceremony at Westminster Abbey on 4th March.

CHAPTER ONE
an exciting email
About this time last year, we were approached by the RNLI to create a design to commemorate and celebrate their 200th Anniversary.
CHAPTER TWO
Emma's magic
We took the idea to Emma Mawston (former head of design at Liberty) who we've collaborated on designs with for the past few years.
CHAPTER THREE
research
Emma embarked on her detailed research, drawing inspiration from the symbolism behind RNLI badges, as well as finding flowers that represent the RNLI ethos such as bravery, protection, gratitude and friendship.
CHAPTER FOUR
drawing & painting
Emma created her design and painted it onto wood as a link to the wooden boats used by the RNLI back in 1824.
CHAPTER FIVE
fabric
We then printed Emma's design onto our beautiful velvet and it was hand cut by Will in the workshop.
CHAPTER SIX
production
Each product was made by hand using the finest leather and embossed with the RNLI 200 commemorative logo.
CHAPTER SEVEN
photoshoot
Once all the products were made, we had a visit from the RNLI to do some amazing photography around Salcombe with our very own Immy.
Then all we had to do was keep quiet...
CHAPTER EIGHT
Westminster Abbey
On 4th March 2024, the 200th Anniversary of the RNLI, we were immensely proud to see one of our cushions used to hold an important document from RNLI history during the Westminster Abbey service of thanksgiving.
